I just finished the best book I have ever read about organizing. I have been spinning my wheels moving our "stuff" from place to place without really weeding through it. I have kept things that don't make me happy out of guilt. Maybe it was a gift and I felt bad donating it. Maybe the item cost a lot of money and I couldn't bear admitting the mistake I made. The author is ruthless in her approach to declutter a space. She says that if an item no longer serves your need or suits you, it's time to let it go. Maybe you once enjoyed it and that's what matters. This really clicked for me. If it was a piece of clothing I loved last year and wore several times then maybe it served its purpose. I can also feel good that it will go on to serve another person and bring them happiness.
I highly recommend the book even though I feel that I can be a little more relaxed in my endeavors to "tidy up" for 2015!
Do you enjoy reading books about organization? Any tips for me? Why do Americans have so much stuff?
Thanks for reading!
